Requiem
Commissioned for the Festival Statesmen Chorus in 2017, Requiem draws its text from parts of the traditional Requiem Mass, in particular the Pie Jesu and Agnus Dei. It was premiered at the Pemulwuy National Male Voice Festival and recorded live as part of FSC's This Shining Night album in 2020.
Originally set to correlate with the Pemulwuy Festival theme of “Voices from the Trenches”, the text took on a broader meaning when the Festival Statesmen recorded it in the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic, honouring and offering a prayer for all who have lost their lives in such tragic circumstances.
